Hootie and the Blowfish Help Out · 576 days ago by I <3 Hootie

Now this is what I love to see, celebrities helping out people who need it.

On October 16th the band headed out to New Orleans to help at a Habitat for Humanity project, they didn’t just spend a day doing something symbolic either, they brought the whole band and support crew down to help build houses for a full 5 days!

Quite incredible if you ask me..

Drummer Jim Sonefeld was quite humble about the experience saying “At this point we feel that bringing our entire band and crew down to New Orleans for 5 days of building houses is as important as writing a check to the charity. This trip allows us to not only contribute to those in need, but also to other ‘musicians’ in need. It feels like we’re reaching out and helping our own family.”

Even the groups keyboardist, Peter Holsapple, chimed in saying “My friends on the Hootie tour have stood beside me and my family through it all and have now decided to join in and do some work in a city that has always loved the band and boasts many of its best friends.”
